نااہل کو حاصل ہے کبھی قُوّت و جبروتarooz could not scan this line
ہے خوار زمانے میں کبھی جوہرِ ذاتی
شاید کوئی منطق ہو نہاں اس کے عمل میں
تقدیر نہیں تابعِ منطق نظر آتی
ہاں، ایک حقیقت ہے کہ معلوم ہے سب کو
تاریخِ اُمَم جس کو نہیں ہم سے چھُپاتی
’ہر لحظہ ہے قوموں کے عمل پر نظر اس کی
بُرّاں صفَتِ تیغِ دو پیکر نظر اس کی!‘
A small circle marks a line arooz could not fit to the poem’s bahr. That is a limit of arooz, not of the poet: the text may leave an izafat unwritten, a word may be missing from arooz’s dictionary, or the line may use a licence arooz does not yet model.
